TRAINING ON INFORMATION LITERACY USING MENDELEY APPLICATION OF UNY GRADUATE SCHOOL

The Deputy Director for General Affairs and Finance of UNY Graduate School, Dr. Widyastuti Purbani, M.Pd., inaugurated the Training on Information Literacy Using the Mendeley Application in UNY’s Graduate School. On this occasion, 54 undergraduate and postgraduate students joined. They enthusiastically participated in all sessions, especially regarding Mendeley reference management.

Ezi Apino, a researcher and scientific article composer since 2016 in Scopus-indexed journals related to meta-analysis, bibliometrics, and systematic literature review (SLR), is the main speaker at this event. He shares amazing experiences and profound insights on the importance of good reference writing in scientific writing.

“Good reference writing that is systematic and easy to trace and the number of published papers are intertwined,” Apino says. “These writers must certify that other people can retrace their references. Therefore, it is crucial to employ the appropriate references.”

The free Mendeley application offers advantages such as feature-rich, practical, and popular among academics. Additionally, it allows its users to operate the application offline. Hence, those with limited internet access can still manage their references. The occasion allows the trainees to practice utilizing Mendeley directly, from importing references to properly adding a well-formatted bibliography. They are also invited to actively participate in discussions with Ezi Apino concerning helpful advice and suggestions in optimizing Mendeley usage in research.

This event is expected to improve the information literacy ability and research quality at UNY Post Graduate School. The trainees are ready to go further in their academics efficiently and effectively.
