Expand Understanding through Academic Discussion Series

The Academic Discussion Series which was held in the Sugeng Mardiyono Building theater room on November 16, 2023 was the fifth event in a series of Academic Discussion Series events organized by Postgraduate UNY. This activity was attended by speakers such as Liene Leikuma-Rimicane who is a Project Advisor at the Latvian IT Cluster. This activity was attended by master students who focus on technology education from the Graduate School of Yogyakarta State University.

The purpose of the fifth session of the Academic Discussion Series is to broaden the understanding of doctoral students who focus on technology on how paradigm shifts and mindset changes in the digital era. Liene described how the application of paradigm shifts in technology and the application in learning. Doctoral students gained a deep understanding of the differences in technological paradigm shifts and mindset changes in Latvia and Indonesia. There is a significant difference in the development of technology, in Latvia, the 5G internet network is widespread in all areas from the middle of the city, forest, to the ocean so that people are easy to reach the internet. In addition, human resources who apply advanced mindset patterns make Latvia the number 1 country in Europe that has succeeded in developing technology and digital transformation consistently.

Through this activity, doctoral students who focus on technology education are expected to develop critical and analytical thinking, as well as collaboration skills needed in the world of education and research. In addition, an understanding of paradigm shifts and mindset changes is expected to be applied to real contexts, both in designing more interactive and technology-based teaching while being oriented to the needs of society. By exploring new concepts and more advanced approaches, doctoral students can play a role in developing the quality of education and scientific contributions so as to improve technology in Indonesia.
