ACADEMIC DISCUSSION ON PSYCHOMETRIC TEST INSTRUMENT DEVELOPMENT

Psychometric tests are structured techniques for producing carefully selected samples of behavior. "This is for us to derive conclusions about student achievement based on test results." Open Assoc. Prof. Tajularipin Sulaiman from the Faculty of Education Studies Universiti Putra Malaysia in an Academic Discussion entitled "Revolves Around Developing of Psychometric Test Instrument."

At the event held by PEP SPs S3 Study Program UNY, Tajularipin said that the Psychometric Test is a test that can measure prospective students' potential ability to undergo one type of work objectively. This type of test is prevalent as part of the recruitment strategy because the scope of Psychometric Tests is quite broad. Psychometric tests can be used to assess various aspects ranging from cognitive abilities and knowledge to the candidate's personality.

Psychometric tests can be used in the world of Education as they not only help students gain a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses but also derive students' abilities based on the number of cognitive skills and abilities in conducting psychometric tests.

Prof. Madya Dr. Wan Marzuki Bin Wan Jaafar also added that success in selecting prospective students is crucial for educational institutions. The proper recruitment will bring in quality talents to be placed in the correct positions. However, finding talent that matches students' abilities takes work. Several factors present in the process, such as bias, inaccuracy, and subjectivity, can affect the assessment.

In school, not only physical abilities but also non-physical aspects such as determination, emotions, attitudes, motivation, and self-confidence. "Emotional aspects are important to pay attention to because emotional stability and instability can affect students' good or bad performance in exams. When in a stable emotional state, students can excel in performance exams." Wan Marzuki added to close this Academic Discussion. (ant)
